Here's how he made the hinges. He cut a wood slat for the backs then used 1x2 inch poplar for the top and bottom of the hinge and for the arm that holds the quilt. He drilled holes down through everything and put a long bolt in with a rounded nut. He added some washers to make it sturdy.
