You did a wonderful job!! One of the things that make a quilt such a treasure is the love that's put into it for the person it's going to. I know your Grandfather was so proud of you!!

Leah Day has many free motion quilting videos as well as instructions. She suggests SID to anchor the patchwork but I see what you mean. If you are FMQing across the quilt, it would detract. Wonderful QOV. You are lucky to have your grandfather. Please cherish him and thank him for his service to our country.

I like your quilting design. It is simple and yet unique. I am going to try that on one of mine.

I agree. I didn't quilt when my father, who fought in WWII, was alive, but did give him many hand made gifts. Still remember sewing most of the night on Christmas Eve into Christmas morning, a red wool vest he wanted. I was in college at the time and finals didn't allow me to start it sooner. Got it done though, in the nick of time. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Sure miss him. I know your grandfather had to be thrilled.

Susan, if you have not done so, go to qovf.org and register a presentation, one-on-one. You can tell the organization that your grandfather is a WWII Vet. Thank him for me for serving our country and my freedom.
