Great job! I can't make nice feathers. I get one side right but I can't get the other side. Any advice?

Thank you so much guys! She picked up the quilt yesterday and was really happy and even paid me a little more than I asked...so I felt pretty good!

Yes, a pre-printed panel! No piecing except in the borders. She added the green, black, and piano key borders. If you do a google search for prim panel it comes up in the photos! I don't know what designer this is but I do know she bought it at a quilt shop locally.

Thank you!! You know what, I think the next video I do for YouTube is going to be on feathers. I can do them well on my domestic but they are pretty tricky on my long arm.

What style of feathers are you making now? I like "bump-bump" feathers best. Those are feathers where I draw a line for the spine and begin making plumes at the base of the spine.

When I first started making feathers I basically just drew half hearts and trailed my way along the sashings of a quilt. Then I progressed to actual feather plumes and where the base of the plumes would meet a spine would be formed. I drew no line first.

I cannot just draw a spine and then feather up one side and feather back down the other. I don't know how you're making yours but you could feather up the right side, then back track down the spine to get back to the base and feather back up the left side. OR feather up one side then tightly echo around the feather plumes to avoid thread build up, and feather back up the other side. Both of those ways work well for me. Good luck!!!
