Quilts and books can go together!

I have made two identical quilts for Xmas for our granddaughters. One lives in Canada and the other in the U. S. I started with a panel in the centre and used other parts of that panel for one of the bottom borders. As a retired teacher, I always loved books written by Eric Carle and want the girls to enjoy them too. I was able to find pretty good fabrics for the grass border and ladybug spot fabrics. Of course, the matching Eric Carle books will be given with the quilts. Such fun!!!!!!!!!! The quilts are cuddle size - 46" x 52" so I'm hoping they will enjoy cuddling up and reading! Thanks for looking!

Every year I make kid's quilts for Santa's Helpers and include a stuffed animal and book. I feel it may encourage kids to read - so important.

Eric Carle is my favorite kids' author. I love The Very Hungry Caterpillar the best. I read his books over and over again to my kids when they were young. I really like your quilt and was hoping that you would be giving the book with the same Carle theme to the granddaughters also. And you are! Yay! My three kids all turned out to be voracious readers due to all the book reading I did to them from the moment they could sit up. Thanks for showing this great kid's quilt!

Great idea, love how you brought it to life. You should sent a copy of that picture to the publishers who will forward it to the author! Unique and lovely job, both girls should love and treasure it for a long time to come. (My librarian mind doesn't seem to retire, memories of having students contact the author and enjoying the experiences...is still an active mind, I guess)
