Default Quilts from clothing

They are finally finished! I committed to making quilts for a friend and her daughter from her mother's clothing. Her mother passed away the end of 2012 and it was 2-3 years before before she was able to gather and get her mother's clothing to me. I gave her books and magazines of quilts and asked each to pick a pattern she liked. My friend picked the Stars on Point pattern, which I inserted photos into the center of each star instead of the 4 patch in the pattern. Her daughter selected the Infinity quilt pattern. So I went to work cutting up the blouses, dresses, pants and shirts. Most had to be stablized... I used French fuse. Then I spent 3-4 years teaching myself how to quilt and "practicing" by making other quilts, for nieces who got married, fund-raising quilts, and dabbled in a couple of t-shirt quilts. So this year my goal was to complete these two quilts. I'm sewing the sleeves on the back this afternoon and will deliver tonight. I can't wait. I'm really happy with my finished projects. I think I can officially call myself a quilter.

Yes, you are a quilter!

Great job using what you had to work with - which can be a challenge at times.

Wow I love them both. I can't pick which is my favorite. I really like the infinity one, but the picture one is special. Great job on both.
