I appreciate all of you who have looked at my quilts and given me such good feedback. It is very encouraging to me and makes me want to continue making quilts. Thank you.

Thank you for the feedback and the compliments. QOV stands for Quilts of Valor. They go to the VA hospitals and are presented to the wounded soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan. When they get to go home, they take their quilts with them. I am about ready to start making another one. The soldiers are so appreciative to receive these quilts. They are so surprised that someone thinks enough about them to make them a quilt. I get so much satisfaction from making them, knowing what it means to the wounded.

I have made 100s of quilts for cancer victims & several for our VA.A major regret from 2001 was that I made a cancer quilt for my grandpa who was 91.I held off giving it to him because I wanted him to not give up the fight.I had the thought if he had that quilt because of the cancer, he would stop fighting against it. Stupid me! I gave it to my step-grandmother right after he died & told her to wrap herself in it as if Grandpa were hugging her. She stopped speaking to my husband & I a few years ago worrying we would want some inheritance. Definitely a sad way for her to feel as it is not the case!Your QOV sound like a very worthwhile project! Our group makes afghans for them.

dawn payne, I feel your hurt for waiting to give your grandpa the quilt you made him and then the fact your step-grandmother quit speaking to you. We all live with regrets, but we have to learn to forgive ourselves and then with time, live without the regrets because we cannot go back and change things. It is so great that you make afghans and quilts for them. Thank you for what you do.
    Many hugs to you.
