All the years I taught, why on earth did I not ever have a parent who made me a fabulous quilt? lol There has to be a special place in heaven for you and your SIL. What terrific supporters you are of teachers!!! Bravo!

Thanks everyone! As to what we will give when she graduates high school, probably more quilts! My amazing niece has Down Syndrome, so she has her preschool teacher, her speech therapist, and the classroom aide who all work with her, pushing her to learn even when it is not easy for her, and cracking up at her spirit and irresistible sense of humor! Next year she will attend a different school to start kindergarten, where she will likely work with another group of teachers for a three year period through second grade. I predict every three years we will be making a new batch of thank you quilts! I, too am a teacher, and although I've never received a quilt as a gift, I do appreciate every gift a parent or child has ever given me, especially when it is one they've made. These teachers have poured their hearts into my niece and the rest of their students with very little public acknowledgement or thanks and against much criticism in the media and in spite of ever increasing negative state and national politics. In spite of the obstacles, they work so hard to help their students overcome daily challenges, while supporting the parents with loving concern and compassion as well. I can't say enough in praise of my niece's teachers! If you are a teacher or were a teacher, you deserve so much more than a quilt and a pat on the back!
