Completed this rail fence couch quilt for my son Elliott in November. He picked out the blue "aztec" type fabric from my stash (vintage), his beloved F-100 is vibrant orange, so that got added and the dark brown helped tone it down a bit. The back is some Norman Rockwell art fabric I got at a discount (I have heaps left over). It is tied with brown crochet cotton and orange embroidery cotton. The batting is thick black fleece. It is lightweight, but warm and he should find it easy to care for.

This is the first "proper" pattern I have followed....usually I make things up as I go along. I enjoyed making it, but I found looking at just 3 colours while it was being constructed a bit tiresome....I think I am a scrappy kind of quilter at heart.

I love both front and back. It is beautiful!! Your son will love it too, I am sure. I also agree with you about the scrappy quilts, I just love to make them, and I usually make them up as I go, too.

Thats great how you made the back so cozy and a reminder of home. I really like that.

What a wonderful quilt! I too love the idea of the back reminding him of home! Great job!
