Remake of son's favourite quilt, originally made in 1990

Name: Magic Blanket Voilą les mūres.jpg
Views: 2401

I finally finished a remake of an old quilt that was my son's security blanket as he grew up that is now, sadly, little more than rags. For his 27th birthday he asked me to make it again because he missed his old quilt. So, dear son, here it is! It's hand pieced and hand quilted. Thanks for taking a look.

It looks fabulous. I can see why your son loved it so much. It is bold and graphic and masculine. And, the best compliment you could receive was a request for a repeat. So, two mom. You did good. By the way, enjoyed your quilt story and love the pattern!

A request for a remake has got to be the best of best compliments. That's a wonderful quilt & he will enjoy it forever.

Your son will love this quilt! And you hand pieced and quilted it, too. Just saw the other quilt you hand pieced and quilted. Amazing and both beautiful.

What a beautiful quilt for your son to love. It has a special story. Love your helpers. The quilt looks like it is floating in air.

Best compliment ever--and I can see why he wanted that same quilt again. Timeless. Eye-catching. Bigger this time, right?

I'm happy you noticed them. The feet to the right belong to my son and those to the left belong to his best friend from childhood. I'm glad you like the quilt.

Sorry, the pattern doesn't have a name. I just made it up. A friend said it looked like blackberries, so I call it "Voilą les mūres" (or just "Blackberries"). If you look carefully, you'll see that there are 4 x 5 blocks made up of 4 triangles. Each triangle has a kite, two longer right triangles and two shorter equilateral triangles. I hope that helps.

It's a real complement to be asked to duplicate a beloved quilt. Great quilt and beautiful setting to photograph it in.

I can see why he wanted another one just like it! I think you could sell this pattern, it is much nicer than many for sale!

Thanks, red-warrior, but I'd rather that people just copy it. I'd be honoured if they did. Besides, quilting is already expensive, so one fewer item to purchase is a bonus, don't you think?
