I've been up for a few hours but I had to wait until the sun went behind a tree to shade the back deck otherwise it would have been too bright to photograph. Sure, I could have gone into the front yard where there is shade all morning but that would have meant getting dressed :)

It's a Beach Bag!! Cool huh? The thing I love about the bag is the mesh so it doesn't hold sand, but holds "stuff". The mesh has a rubber coating on it. What a pain in the butt to sew!!

Pattern is "The mesh of it Tote Bags - the Tote & Go" by Lyle Enerprises. Pattern has two sizes, this is the large which measures 18" x 14" x 4" - except my dimensions are slightly different (not as tall) because the mesh I bought was pre-measured and it was 1" short. It was not the easiest pattern to read, but I got it in the end.

I made two other design modifications. The pattern didn't call for inside pockets and I think they're necessary for things like cell phones, digital camera, and room key - so I added two to the inside with Velcro closures.

The other modification is the beading at the top. I had gone to the store to get the Velcro and it was right next to rows and rows of beading and I couldn't resist!

Pictured is Bag #1 for me. It is pictured on the fabric and beading (shells) for Bag #2 for friends. They are getting married on the beach in Jamaica in October and we are flying out there to be with them (they got engaged on same beach last year when we were together). I am also making the "Twisted Palms" landscape quilt that you may have seen progress reports of here on QB. That project is now ready to be quilted (I have parts trapunto'd already) so I took a break from it. The bag will be the "wrapping" for the quilt which is their "real" wedding present.

Hope you enjoy - thanks for looking.

    The whole bag

Close up of inside pockets, also note the inside seams have binding. That was a VERY thick area to sew. Thanks Huskvarna!
