    It's fusible applique not needleturn so my trusty iron does all of the work for me.

    Love it! I think I'd stitch the edge as in raw edge applique with either matching thread or invisible thread. I would then outline quilt the main subjects. I'd then SITD on the border strip to keep it square. When that is done, I'd go to Leah Days site and find a background pattern that would compliment the fabric and quilt it. Whatever you decide will look great because your top is wonderful.
