Thank you all for your kind comments. I think this is the 10th commission from this person. On the first, I did not push back where I thought his ideas were not quite right for a quilt. At this point, we have a lot more confidence in each other, so the results are much better. I don't take commissions from anyone who will micro-manage the project or if the project is one I don't want to do. However, I admit that one of the reasons I do as many charity quilts as I do is that I can play around with patterns and ideas without anyone fussing at me.
The guitar pattern was a downloaded photo of an actual guitar, printed over 2 pages and used as a template. I used sizing and iron on interfacing, then satin stitched the 2 layers of guitar to the quilt.
Two days ago I got a Janome 6600, which I really love! I used a flame-like stitch to attach the golden flames, and other fancy stitches for the frets, strings and other guitar parts.
This quilt will be raffled to benefit local charities. I am not a fan of most rock music, but am glad that the local rockers will be able to enjoy Ronnie Montrose at the Trinity County (CA) fair next month.
