Here's my recent small quilt project. This one is for the hubby. He and his brothers and brothers-in-law like to play pinocle at family gatherings---Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, weddings, etc. He is the oldest of 10 children, all married except one, so there is a lot of card-playing and drinking of the Crown Royal and Diet Coke. So the purple flannel bags have been stocking up for a few years and my husband asked me to do 'something' with them, but not liking any of my suggestions. He didn't want me to CUT THEM UP, for heaven's sake! After much searching for just the right style, I knew "Card Trick" was THE ONE. After I had cut up the purple flannel and made a few squares, I showed them to him, and he said . . . . YEAH, I like that! Initially he didn't like the other fabrics either as they were laying on the table, but he does now. He would be the first to admit he doesn't have a gift for envisioning things like this. As long as he fixes my car and mows the grass and all those other 'guy' things, we're both happy.

All I did for "quilting" was a SITD around the perimeter of the cards, and then I stitched the initials CR on the purple cards. The backing is Black Marble Moda . Thanks for looking.

Love it! Those bags were so handy for Scrabble tiles, too!

That is very cool. I asked my husband just the other day if he wanted to save his bags for a quilt!
