Default S is for Snowman, Redwork

Here is a little hand embroidered redwork snowman that I completed recently. It's the "S" block from the Snowmen A to Zzzz pattern from Crabapplehill designs. I used a plain old stem stitch to do this. I was troubled on how I was going to finish it. I've been on the fence about mixing hand work with machine quilting. And I just put a plain old checkerboard around it to frame it. I like it after all.

That is one of the cutest ones I've seen recently. Checkerboard border really is a plus in this case.

I think mixing the hand and machine worked turned out just wonderfully!
