Sandcastle Summer
I don't post very often. Preferring to browse others creations. But, I'm pretty proud of how this one turned out.
With all the ice and snow and cold we've been having here in Kentucky, I am dreaming of summer and sinking my toes in nice warm sand.
I found this pattern in McCalls Quiling, America Makes Fast Quilts, Spring 2013. It was designed by Cheryl Almgren Taylor. It is a wonderful pattern to follow. I bought all but the white swiss dot fabric for the back and front at Hancock Fabrics in Paducah, KY. They have the most beautiful batiks. I stayed very close to the color pallet pictured in the magazine. (Why mess with perfection.) But, batiks differ everywhere.
Thank you for looking.

I did some machine and hand quilting on it. The corners are hand quilted with Seahorses and fish. I traced my design on paper and pinned in place. Then I just stitched right through the paper. When I was finished, I just carefully removed the paper.

You do beautiful work Judith! I am a big fan and I wish you would show more of the projects you do. All that being said, I just love your idea of chasing away the winter blues with this darling quilt! I am with you, I want to hear the waves and sink my toes in the warm sand.

Thanks RedGarnet, The truth is, last year was kind of a quiet year for me. I have made a lot of exchange blocks and one quilt top that I more or less like. But, I really haven't finished that much last year. Thanks for your lovely comments though. I will have to get my booty in gear and finish up a few things so I can share.
