Default Scottish theme

For anyone who has ever undertaken a road trip from England into Scotland, they may well recall seeing this large welcome sign. In one sign the Gaelic is white, in another, yellow. I chose the yellow. haven't made this for any particular reason other than I wanted to! This isn't the first time this road sign has been immortalised in a quilt, but it's definitely the first time for me.

Have wanted to take a train north to Scotland since my mother's mother I found out came illegally from Scotland thru Canada but married an American. Found this out many years after she died. I have always loved everything Scottish and I know now why. Nicely done. You will remember your trip with this interesting quilt.

That's cool. One day you may find the time to visit your grandmother's birthplace. I am Scottish and live here too but anytime I have to make a road trip to England, this sign on the approach to the Border gladdens my heart and always always makes me smile.

Great quilt! Are you going to use it for a wallhanging? I wish I was there in person to see it!

Thank you. I'm not sure tbh. It's simple design belies the amount of work that went into it. Partly my own fault. Initially I embroidered the English wording. It looked fantastic but as it was a block font it took three days for the machine to complete. I thought, hang that for a laugh so decided to appliqué the yellow. I snagged a letter with my iron. I had suspected it was kind of impractical anyway but banishing my suspicions I had gloried on anyway! I had the most brilliant fun unpicking every last embroidery stitch - not! At one point thought - bin - but I'm so thrawn, I had to see it through to its conclusion. The quilting took what seemed like forever to do.

Who hos knows one day you might get to see the real thing in the flesh. Never say never!
