Now, why didn't I think of that! Great idea...even if we don't normally spill, it will sure make it easier to empty. Thanks for posting this.

I have two of these, one store bought and another made by a friend (guess which is my favorite). Mine also has velcro tabs so the bag comes off and you can take it to the trash. I never thought of using it with a glass in it so I have never used it for trash, I keep my small scissors and seam ripper in it so it is close by. Now I will put a small plastic glass in one of them and I can use them both.

    Thanks for the idea.

before you give up and toss it, check in your cupboards, or at the nearest dollar store, for any plastic cup that will fit into the one you have. even a smooth plastic disposable cup will do the job. styrofoam would probably just stick to the fabric bag and you'd be right back where you started.

I made myself one and made one for my sister and I lose pins in mine all the time so what I do is reach down in it carefully and get the pins out and then empty the thing. I tried to make it so it would stay open and I had no luck. Tried wire and that did not work so I pinned it open and that has worked for a spell, but I still get some pins dropped into it and some times my seam ripper too. So I have to be very careful when I empty it and a lot of scraps do end up on the floor also. Have a great day, Now to find a glass that I can put into it. Thanks for the idea, Huggies, Fay

Also have a scrap catcher/pin cushion ... but I kept easily knocking if off the cabinet, so I used sticky-backed strong velcro and placed the looped side on the cabinet and the smooth side to bottom side of the pin cushion. Works great! Keeps it in place or I can give a tug to easily move it/take with to classes.

Mine gets to overflowing before I have to "sort" and not throw out any "good stuff". This is a good idea! Thanks for sharing. I do remember when you posted your original scrap catcher. You really got us!
