I love your Irish Chain! I collect the little scrap squares and a scrappy Irish chain is on my 'to do' list.

Lovely way to get rid of 2 1/2" squares. Double sided quilt is a great option. I'm thinking outloud now...would the other side be better to have less piecing to aid in quilting? I'm wondering about all those seam allowances from 2 quilts.

Gorgeous quilt, and love the idea of you making it reversible!

Thank you all for the wonderful compliments! This one has been on my wish list since I first started quilting, yet somehow I never got around to making it before now.

Looking at my drawer full of 2-1/2" squares, you would never guess I used any--I didn't even make a dent, lol. As for the ease of quilting, I suppose it probably would be easier with less seam allowances. I only recently started teaching myself to FMQ, and the three quilts I have done have been reversible, and it hasn't been any trouble so far. I definitely would not want to hand quilt it though!

I didn't use a pattern, but it's pretty easy. The 54 background blocks are (2) 6-1/2"x2-1/2" and (1) 6-1/2"x10-1/2", plus four 2-1/2" scraps.

The 55 all scrappy blocks are 2-1/2" squares, which mostly I pieced as leaders/enders. I used (4) all scrappy four patches for the corners, (4) two patches with BG and and a color for the center row/column, and a single 2-1/2" colored square for the center.

I did take care to make sure my BG fabrics matched form block to block, but I used the paper bag method for the colored scraps, so it is totally random.
