Love this quilt. By any chance did you use the quilt as you go on your blocks?

    scrappy quilt show--my pineapple

Hi Phyllis and thanks for the compliment!

I was given a bundle of foundation papers with this pattern on them and didn't have a clue what it was or how to assemble it. I sent a picture out to the board and as usual these wonderful ladies immediately identified it as a pineapple and gave me pics of theirs for examples. I still made lots of mistakes in the variations of light and dark, but even so I liked the scrappy look. I'm having difficulty with the new format, so I'm not sure how to direct you to "old" search posts, but I'm sure somebody here can tell you how to get to the posts on pineapples and you'll see some beautiful examples. I also don't know a lot about the pattern, but mine was paper pieced and I know you can put it together with or without the foundation papers. Good luck if you choose to do one--it was really easy and used up a lot of scraps.

I don't recall where I found that pattern I named the photo starshadow but don't know if that's a real pattern name or if I made it up for picture but its easy enough to make , the 9 blocks are each made up of 36 3" squares .(they finish at 2.5") The border just 2 rows of 3 inch darks If you put it on graph paper, its really just the placement of darks and lights, with a few half squares . all my lights are tannish, and the darks are jewel tones, but you can use any light/ dark combination or even any size square you want if you want it smaller, like 2 inch squares in 12 " blocks etc... . This would look nice in black and white or black and gray too I think. finished size with binding is around 56" or so. Let me know if you have any more questions :-)
You may have gotten it out of a Quiltmaker magazine as I've seen it one of my older ones, just not sure which one. Yours is quite beautiful!
It's not a mistake, it's an unconscious decision to change the pattern.
