I think it's a great layout and the colors are wonderful.

I love the layout the way it is. If you are lacking for a name, my Hubby suggested "shattered glass" or "shards of fabric" :)

The way the second picture shows them, they almost take on the look of stained glass pieces, before leading.
What a great way to use up your scraps!

i agree. it will have much more movement. very creative way to use scraps. never saw them used in blocks that way, except for strings, so this is very different.

What did you use for the "base" to sew scraps on? I have made several scrappy quilts similar to this....sewed my scraps onto squared up, used dryer sheets. Worked great!

Actually I didn't use a base. I Cut long strips of fabric, didn't measaure them. I wanted them to have a wonky look when sewed together. Sewed similar shades together. Starched the heck out of them cause some of the fabric wanted to move around or stretch when ironed. I used a 4 and 1/4 inch templet while cutting the pieces. Each time I cut a new square I would change the direction of the templet.
I like to think outside of the box, put me in a box and I will go mad.

Oh my gosh I love that name. I showed the pic to my DH and he said it looks like broken glass. So I showed him this post and he said see.

I thought about diagonal but I have a hard time making it come out right. I can see it in my head too. I might try laying it out and see if I like it or not. Most likely I will leave it alone.
