This is a beautiful quilt. I truly like it - i favor bright fabrics and this one is full of them.

A word of caution: fabric softener sheets are highly flammable, even after being washed. I know, too late now, but good to know for future quilts.

I am in the process of making the same quilt, but not using dryer sheets. My quilt shop gave me a plastic template for the kite and she said to use 6" squares of the background fabric (yellow as you see in this quilt), mine are white. But I cut my squares 8 1/2" because I cut them on my Accuquilt. You draw the kite in a corner with the plastic template and use the sew and flip technique until you fill up the square. My quilting buddies are also making the same quilt in all different background colors. They all look great.

I am one who needs to see a picture of how it is done. Sometimes it just doesn't click.............then one or two pictures and I go duh I should have got that. I have a want to do one with a red star. Thank you for the posting of your quilt.
