I made this table topper all from scraps, loads of scraps from making dresses for my daughter and myself when she was a little girl. There's even a scrap from her first day of school dress and the dress i wore when we brought her home from the hospital! I'm giving it to her for Easter. I hope she remembers some of the dresses.

It's a simple split ninepatch pattern, just 16 blocks. I put a funky Kaffe Fassett fabric on it as the border to make it a bit more modern looking.

And the backing is a bright dotty coffee cup fabric, for a happy change of pace. Two toppers in one!

That's so pretty! And such memories! I bet she'll think it's too pretty to use as a table topper and will want to hang it on the wall.

Thank you all for your kind words.

She loved it! She loved the colors, loved that it's reversible, and loved my feather quilting. And she did remember many of the dresses!

She even remembered her father's plaid shirts that were in it, too! I had forgotten about those. (It's been a UFO for a long while!)

Such a simple little pattern and such a good way to use up small scraps. Sometimes simple is just right.

The topper is lovely but the idea and thought behind it is even more lovely. What I wouldn't give to have a mother think enough of me to do something like that.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Sherryl

    Thank you.

The biggest shocker was that my husband remembered some of the fabrics, too --his shirts and her first day of school dress. Will wonders never cease? I was so surprised!
