I will probably start this applique block over from scratch. The earlier remake lost too much of the magic. I've been encouraged by artists in a children's PB critique group to use the original background with the hill and curved water line. Also to add some other grazing animals on the hill. And I'm wondering if the lamb is too close to the center of the picture? The grass tufts will be smaller in comparison as you can see how it looks in the earlier re-make. It's the same grass, the size of the quilt block makes the difference. The picture needs to be cropable (probably not a real word) to both the circle and the hexagon shape.

    The original Day 6

Day 6 remake - I've also removed the beaver and selected a lion to put there, but not liking it either. The turtle might go in the water.

I like the hill, but hope you can keep the tree in it too.

    It needs the tree.
    I like the hill.

I like the original but adding the tree to the upper left.

I've been working on this for the past 2-3 days and my right middle finger is getting pretty sore. I've put pieces on and taken them off a few times, but making progress. Thanks for all the input. I'm keeping the hill and adding the tree. I also moved the turtle to the lower right part of the block.

I saw the idea of a tree. I like that--above the lake area. It would make the placement of the lamb maybe appear better to you. It is not dead center and that is good. Just lay one on it and look through a lens of a camera at it. I love the grass and I love the colors

I like the hill and the tree. It is a very pretty scene.
