    Thank you all for the wonderful comments.

    LillyandGish - the pattern is called Study in Black & White by Julie Popa I found it in the Fons and Porter's March/April 2008 and knew it was perfect for them. I think the pattern would translate well to any other color combination.

    @ Candicane - I am still hesitant about FMQ - afraid I will ruin all the hard work on piecing the top - but I am learning to just go for it. The receivers don't notice the boo boos, they just love the quilt.
