    Small finish - Sunflower

Well it didn't turn out like I wanted it to. It was a long day of ripping out stitches because my machine wouldn't stitch details onto the flower without skipping, so after making a zillion tiny holes, I gave up and just FMQ around the flower.

    Thanks for looking :-)

Cute sunflower. The problem might be if you used interfacing under the sunflower and needed a larger needle?

It's a lovely sunflower but it sounds like your machine needs some tune up, maybe tension issues.

It has heat n bond underneath and that is what caused the issue. The paper said I could sew on it, but apparently not FMQ. It does all other sewing and FMQ just fine when there is no heat n bond underneath.

    Thanks

Looks great to me. I'd guess that it turned out just the way you intended. Funny thing, I'm also working on a sunflower quilt today but mine isn't applique. Guess it's a sunflower day.

Like your sunflower! It is frustrating when I have a picture in my mind of how the project should look but can't get my hands and fabric to make it .... and then just have to give up and let it go. Another day, another try at it. But this does look good. Thank you for sharing.
Make it a scrappy happy day!

Thank you all. My mother picked up the rocking chair pin cushion for me at a yard sale. It has fallen apart more times than I can count, but it is adorable. I tried gluing it so it wouldn't come apart anymore, but sadly a cat knocked it over and the glue doesn't hold anymore. It is my favorite pincushion!

Really cute sunflower! Great Job. I have had the same issues with heat bond....it took me a while to figure out that it was the heat bond causing the problem....but finally I figured it out!!! So frustrating!!! Excellent job getting past your own frustration to finish it. Looks sooo cute!

Thank you everyone! I have attempted a second small one, will post pictures tomorrow. Still can't stitch on the heat n bond, so this time I made the design so I wouldn't have to. But silly me FMQ this one with the control in "back stitch"..... sigh... one day I will get it right.

Who couldn't love a cheerful little sunflower? And yours is too, too precious! I'm sorry it gave you such fits but in the end, cuteness won out... LOL!
