Thanks so much. I love batiks and have a lot of them but yet this is the first quilt I made with them. The colors are just terrific. Naturally the picture doesn't show the detail of each one but you can get the idea.
The pattern is called "Log Cabin Loco" by Marlous Designs. I made it a little bigger than the actual 61 x 76 of the original pattern. Hope you enjoy making it as much as I did.

Thank you so much for your comment. You and so many others have been so kind. Go ahead and give those batiks a try. I'm sure you will be as thrilled with the results as I am. My son is more on the modern side with his decor and batiks are perfect for that. I on the other hand am very traditional, but I like to through the Asian fabrics in there too. That is my next project. Doing something with all these gorgeous asian fabrics I have. Thanks again

I actually got them from the trash box !! His most treasured item, his grandma's music box( a very simple one, not a beautiful one) that was never seen again.
I can't even imagine how I would have felt if that happened to me. Hopefully, somebody told her what it all meant. Are they still together today? I don't know if I could ever give this girl a gift if I were you. Always be wondering if she appreciated it. Thanks so much for your comment.
Nope, that marriage lasted a little over a year. My son recently bought a new home, and he was looking in every crook and nanny for that music box as he packed, but no luck finding it. He just won't believe that she would have thrown that away too, but I imagine she did. She really was a nice person, but she was fixing up her home , her way, and knowing my son, he probably didn't tell her to keep it. Because of two divorced sons, we learned a few things. Number one, if you make something for them, give it to your own child , and make sure that if they ever decide they don't want it, , you would like it back. Myhubby made our grandson a cherry bedroom set, and when son and DIL divorced, she got everything. We had given them so much money for their home improve, ments,( her parents gave items,) trying to help out, and then she wouldn't even let my son take the cherry bedroom set. Divorce said she got what was given to them. She told us if we wanted it, we could buy it . So, we bought another cheap set for GS, and my son had the cherry at his apartment. When hubby made other furniture for other children, I made a point of telling the spouse, that stays with my kid in case of divorce!! Good thing I did too, cause it happened to another, but my kid got what we had provided or dad had made. No arguments!!

My birthday is the 16th too. Sure wish I had someone that would make me a treasure like your son will be receiving. It is really beautiful. My son needs a dew quilt. What is the pattern name?

I love batiks in all quilts, but your quilt brings them all together to a new level! This is so lovely and sophisticated but not too girly-girl for a young man. What a keepsake gift from a loving mother!

I have some of those fabrics in a kit I purchased. Worked on it for awhile - now I have inspired to get back at it. Nice job!!
