Kudos for all the straight sewing with checks and plaids. Re-purposed shirts make a wonderful quilt.

That’s fantastic Sewbiz- You did a great job with that sashing and the binding is perfect for the feel of the quilt!

No I winged it, as I've done narrow strip joining QAYG many times. I did refer to my Craftsy class by Marti Michell for adding the borders by her "encased seams" method.

There is a very good tute in our tutorials section for adding wide sashing and inserted batting... by Kassaundra. It's basically the same way I did this one.

Great job, SBG. Love your finished project, and Luke should be very happy with his delayed Birthday gift.! Love your colors in it and your quilting job. Maybe someday I will, meanwhile, I can enjoy looking at beautiful quilts on QB.

I have been pondering taking a try at QAYG, but the methods I have found include sashing on the back. I really like your one piece backing. Did you baste it to your completed top and then do additional quilting?
LOL, I fooled you! It's not a one piece back. I just used the same fabric for the backs of the blocks and all the sashings and borders. If you look closely you can see some of the border fabric has the diamonds running sideways, while the main part of the quilt has them oriented up and down. Look up Kassaundra's tutorial and you'll see how it's done. It's easier than you think.

Your quilt turned out just gorgeous! Love the idea of the swapping identical blocks.
