My 'Sweet Ada' and her surroundings

This is my Centennial Singer 15-91, which my parents purchased in 1951, which is the year of my birth also, so she and I are the same age.

I call her Sweet Ada. Ada is short for Adelaide, which was the middle name of my grandmother and my mother. I can remember G'pa hollering "Ada, where are you?" when he was looking for G'ma.

She lives in our family room, in her original cabinet, with her original stool, and she sews like a dream.

Just to the left of her cabinet is an old, much-varnished picnic table. This serves as my cutting board and my pressing spot.

The iron, floor lamp and Ada are all plugged into one surge protector, which is plugged into a wall outlet that is controlled by a switch near the door of the room. I love it that I can just flip one switch when I leave the room and know that the iron and Ada are both off.

This space is not usually this tidy, but almost. This room also holds the TV and my husband's office area, and he is one of the orginal clean desk folks, so my 'mess' has to be kept under control to keep peace in the house. My fabric stash is in a room downstairs that he never enters, so it is NOT tidy!

This is a tissue box/pincushion that I made years ago for my Aunt Hilda. After she died, I got it back. The fabric shows sewing machines, etc. I still have a little more of the fabric.

What a beautiful treasure you have!! It must be wonderful to sew on such a beautiful machine :D:D:D

1951 was a good year!!! lol I was born that year too...she must very sweet!! enjoy!!!
