This is just beautiful. My Grandma crocheted doilies. Wonder whatever became of them . . . ?

Beautiful! I too crochet. I made a tablecloth for my DD that took me 9 1/2 years. I posted it here somewhere. I will have to see if I can find it.

Okay, I found it. I will add a, "Can you top this" to it. I will never do another one this big, will stick to small doilies, which I love to do.

granof6, that is a work of art, how long did it take to make? I too crochet, but I would not attempt to make something like that. Just beautiful.

Connie, that is awesome. Please don't put it away, it is too beautiful not to be displayed.

It took me 9 1/2 years. My husband was diagnosed with cancer during that time, so I did a lot of crocheting in the hospital during his treatments and doctor waiting rooms. Then after he passed away I had a hard time working on it for about 4 years. Then one year I promised myself I would finish it for the Thanksgiving dinner table. I finished it just a few days before Thanksgiving, took it to my daughter's house and put it on the dining room table without telling her. I wondered how long it would take her to find it. The next day she called me from Joann Fabric asking what kind of plastic she should get to cover it up. I don't think it has beenoff the table since then. The 2 grandsons say they will interview possible brides dependent on how they feel about the lace tablecloth, as it will be in the family for generations.

You may not be able to put a square peg into a round hole but I'm pretty sure you could put a round table cloth onto a square (or rectangular) table. Tha is too pretty to be in a closet.

Instead of putting it in the closet maybe you should consider starching it heavily, matting, framing and putting it on a wall. It is so beautiful.
