Storm at Sea wall hanging is quilted
I am pretty darn happy with this, it is my 2nd quilt which will be used as a wall hanging in my guest bedroom. It is Storm at Sea on point. I just finished binding it a few minutes ago and wanted to share. I know it is not as precise and as well pieced as the majority of quilts that I have seen on this site, but one must start somewhere. I still need to tack down the hanging pocket on the back. The top of the pocket was attached with the binding, now the bottom needs to be hand sewn to the back. I also need to do a hard steam press but its too late to drag the steam press out and set it up.
The one thing that surprised me was that I thought there would be a bigger visual impact by turning it on point. I think that the next time I do this pattern, and there will be a next time, I will not turn it. This was a very fun and challenging piece for me and I learned so much. I have not tried FMQ yet, so for the borders I put 2 needles in my Singer 401a and played with some of the decorative stitches that the machine has - that was a blast
This was a good weekend for my guest room, the quilt is darn near ready to hang and I wound and beamed on a 9 yard warp for the curtains. I hope to have those woven this week.

One of the things I admire about the work of other quilters is that they see new impacts with traditional patterns by doing something out of the ordinary. Your Storm at Sea on point certainly does that. It is a very pretty wall hanging. I think it will always be fun to admire on the wall. Great job!

Very nice wallhanging. I think when you hang it and step back you will see it does have the ( visual impact) you aren't seeing yet. Sometimes we spend so much time (up close & personal) we don't see the beauty anymore....until it's done and we can step back & enjoy. You did a great job on this!
