I love your quilt. It is really pretty!! :D
Have you tried using tissue paper for a
stableizer? I use it & it tears away very
nicely. Just a thought for you.
    :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have used water, Ruth, it really does help. With newsprint you shouldn't have much trouble with it falling apart on it's own. The last one I made I used dryer sheets, didn't have to pick it apart. I saved a whole bag of them to use for the Veterans lap quilts. Now I just have to find them...

What a beautiful string quilt, Ruth. The orange just the
ticket for unifying all the vibrant colors!

    I haven't done
anything with foundation paper so can't comment on that
but have heard some are hard to remove.

    (I agree that
it sounds like a good job for the grandkids!--they will love
    helping!)

I made one recently for my daughter-in-law's mother using tissue paper. I didn't tear the paper off, I left that for her to do, so I'm hoping it comes off easily! I have some old tops my grandmother did using newspaper, and that is hard to remove.
