While I love making quilts following patterns, it was so much fun trying something totally different. With a collage using steam-a-seam, one can try making a flower for example and if you're not happy with it, you simply remove it or make changes before ironing it down permanently. I do a lot of photography and after making three collage quilts I find I'm even looking at photos ops differently. Looking at people's faces I see various shades for example. After piecing together many quilts over time, the collage approach meant no sewing until it was time to either add a border or do the quilting! I am quite addicted to this process and have several projects waiting for me to begin. I did a poppy collage hanging and my husband wants me to make some for veterans. That is a project I can work on while camping this summer as I won't need my sewing machine along with me. I hope you try to make one! I absolutely loved making this Sublime quilt! In February I'm taking a class where we will take a photo of a pet and turn it into a collage. So I have our bichon shih zhu dog's photo ready to go! I also am going to try and make a collage portrait of our granddaughter who will be turning 3 soon! Yes, I am addicted to this, aren't I?
