    Sunbonnet Sue for Mom

My Grandma used to make SS's, only they used to call them "Dutch Dolls". Grandma's quilts have kind of got worn out and scattered and my Mom kept hinting that she wanted one, so I made this for her for Mother's Day. (not this year, she's had it for a while, and it's her "nap quilt")

There isn't another quilt ever that beats those darling Sues. Your mother is so lucky to have you and to make it for Mothers Day besides. What beautiful work you do.

A clean house is the sign of an empty mind, a house has to be done again tomorrow, but hand work last for ever.

love your sues. My mom always talked about the pattern to and I think she had made several quilts like these many years ago, I will one day also.
Enjoying the quilting after a year, and working out new designs and ideas, making quilts for my family and friends.

That is a very pleasant quilt. I like your use of scraps. I bet she smiles whenever she looks at it.

Too old for Sues? Nonsense! My sister's DMiL had one she was very fond of. I made one of Sue doing things on a farm for my DGD, but am working on one for me. Annually, I make some sort of small Sue for a friend named Sue, who certainly does not think she is too old for them.

Somehow, that reminds me of when my mother offered my kite to a family with younger kids, who were, she was told, "too old to fly kites". My father and I were indignant. I continued to fly kites with Dad and my boys until shortly before his death.
