    Sunshine and Windmills

I haven't been too quilty lately lol. I was looking through my books and found this little deal and thought I would make something small, like a table runner. I had seen these before somewhere and I think you had to buy a pattern and template....but my brain said, "it is in one of your books" and sure enough it was.

The book, Confetti Quilts, by Mary Mashuta. The book has a pattern. I copied the pattern and glued it to the plastic sheet and cut it out. I would then trace around the template with a micro pen and cut out four at a time with the rotary cutter and ruler. I didn't have to buy a template...waste not, want not lol.....

The thing this, with this little pattern is....you have to build the design on your wall or you will get confused..

you need four different fabrics or more. I used four to try it out. I cut out a bunch with the template out of the four and put them on the board. Now you see how you have to match each fabric to the pinwheel. After you match them, you then remove block by block onto a board, sew that block, put it back on the wall and do another and so on. Then sew the blocks together and then the rows......

You can see how the red takes over? Consider that if you make one of these. It worked fine for me, I wanted the red. Also, the red is next to it's compliment of Green and that makes the red very attractive. The red is also brighter than it's compliment..

So we have a color and it's compliment, hot and cool colors. Since Red is the hottest, it will take over from the cool colors.

I like it. Also, thanks for the tip to glue pattern to template plastic. I'll try that to get a nicer cut out template.

Very pretty, I usually pick out a print and find colors to match other colors in the print. I don't use a color wheel, not my choice of colors.

A whole quilt is in the book and it's stunning! The book is well worth the money as there are several designs in it that one would like to make (I am).
Here is a link to get an idea.

    http://country-schoolhouse.com/twister_tool.htm

Now I did a research on the twister and found a template and a pattern you must purchase. I think the template is a waste of time and fabric. It has you sewing four squares together and then you line up the template and cut around it, wasting lots of fabric and not to mention extra sewing.

The template I use is the direct patch to sew and no lining ip of seams required. One can go to the web and see how to put it together.

I will try to figure out in inches and lines how to make this easy one patch template and post it here. If I am successful, I will be back within a short time with the instruction.
