I have never done that with border fabric but it is quite effective.

Love the table runners. I just bought this pattern! Did you use the 60degree ruler? Just wondering as I haven't purchased it yet.

Yes, you need to have cut end pieces at 60 degrees and the ruler makes it so easy. I have both the 8 1/2 and 12 1/2 sizes, I purchased the smaller size first and then found that some prints are larger so got the bigger one, so would suggest if you purchase one get the bigger size.
