    Very nice I seen that on one of the quilting shows her in Cleveland. This lady does it on black velvet or just black material anyhow she did her's on a long arm lad out the quilt and thread painted away.

    I love them all. An embroidery machine is on my list of wants. Hubby says wait til the prices come down :(
    I'll enjoy looking at everyone elses.....
    Is it expensive to do?

    you don't need an expensive embroidery machine to do thread painting. A good straight stitch machine will do well. One that you are comfortable with. All you really use is the straight stitch. At times I do use a zig zag also but the machine that you have should do. It is not expensive but having a lot of beautiful threads sure adds to your enjoyment. Its like having a lot of different paints. And for goodness sakes, please get good threads, not the cheap stuff that frays and breaks. That is too frustrating and you want to have fun, not frustrated.

    You don't need to go out any buy a fancy machine, if you can drop the feed dogs in your current machine you can do this. you can use the straight stitch or zig zag. I use rayon thread and they run about 5 to 7 dollars. but last 4 ever.

    I love that the mermaid looks like she's swimming through bubbles in the water! Just beautiful! I did one thread painting on the back of a jacket I'd made for a friend in the late 90's and your photos make me want to try it again. Thanks for sharing and for the tute!
