Beverly-- typically leaders they are equal sized squares that you sew together before running your "good" fabric under the needle, which sometimes "eats" the corners." Enders are ones you can use after , although I've never had a problem once I've gotten started chain piecing. Eventually all the 2 patches add up to 4P, 9P, etc. So you are essentially making a second quilt as you make your current one.

Thanks for showing your lovely patchwork quilts! I like the white or light squares beside the colorful squares. Looks like the other side of the quilt is more scrappy with all colors playing together. Thanks for sharing your projects! I have never done a scrappy quilt but now I feel inspired to start one. I like to buy 5"charm squares, so this would be a great project to give them a home. )
