    time to Trim the Tree!

One of my sewing buddies bought this pattern for everyone in our group, and we've been having fun seeing how everyone's comes out. Rather than put buttons on it and hang paper-pieced ornaments, as was suggested by the pattern, I chose to add some red yarn balls with couching, and also a star on top. I added a piece of gold trim in the binding ditch.

This is "Tall Trim the Tree" pattern.

Getting in the holiday mood yet?

What a kind sewing buddy you have to treat all to the pattern. Your tree is fabulous and very oringinal. I like your embellishment ideas with the yarn. Your quilting designs make the tree so festive.

I like your beautiful tree and the embellishments you chose for your tree. I especially like the star. I am glad your group enjoyed the challenge. Such seasonal fun.

I love your quilting in the tree. Looks like some of Angela Walters techniques.

I have been so tempted to try the couching technique but I don't yet have the foot I need for it. Have you seen the video Bethanne Nemish posted on FB doing the koi fish? She has really taken couching to a whole 'nother level. Looks like so much fun to try. But I have too many other things in progress right now, I definitely want to finish up some projects before I try anything new. Love how your star turned out and the whole piece is just great. Did you couch the gold trim bit that is in the binding ditch as well? Really a nice touch to have that little bit of bling. Adds a lot.

That's so cute! I bought the smaller "Trim the Tree" pattern, but I'm so far behind on other stuff and now having to have extensive dental work done, so I probably won't get to it this year. *sigh*

I love the star! Very creative. Did you hand sew that with yarn?
