Default My first Quilted Wall Hanging

Here is my very first quilted wall hanging in progress.. I have only done square rag quilts in the past and decided to take the plunge as I love love love the Shining Star Quilt and wanted one for my sewing room. So please it only helps me learn if you could pick out the flaws and help me understand how to avoid them and what I could do different.. I have never had any type of formal training or classes everything I have thus far is self taught and lots of youtube videos..
I won't point out the flaws I will let you find them so I can see how noticable they are but I will tell you some of the fabric like the white and then the pink roses in the center is cheapo walmart fabric.. That being said the first lesson I have learned is either not to use cheapo fabric or to stabilize it first. So please feel free to point out what you see and any tips you may have for me. I appreciate your input and help..
    Thank You

except for a couple of 'points' issues, it's a wonderful quilt. and as a somewhat newbee, you did a fantastic job. only quilters would notice the points... non quilters will not. certainly my first 'points' quilt was nowhere near this good

I agree with QuiltnNan. Your points might not have the quarter inch when adding the border or binding. Overall really awesome job!

Good job and very pretty! That is a fairly hard pattern to get perfect points and you did really well. Quilt it up and pat yourself on the back!

ditto to the others comments about points ... nasty things at times, but with practice before long, you'll have perfectly pointed points!

I really like the colours/fabrics you have chosen. It'll make for a nice cheery welcome every time you enter your sewing room.

Thank you all for the feed back and if anyone else has any tips or suggestions I really like to get the feedback so it helps me as I learn
On this particular quilt I did the HST which was alot of fun.. I just ran into alot of problems because as I went it was so out of shape I used the quarter inch foot which really helps keep the seams the correct size but the fabric kept stretching out.. I can't wait to do another one with better quality fabric.

Its beautiful, and for a self taught beginner your work is great. We learn as we go, and you will just keep improving. Your first project turned out far better than mine, and my pattern was not as difficult as yours. Its going to look beautiful hanging in your sewing room!

I think you did a great job and wow that is a big project for a NEWBIE! we only get better over time be patient with yourself. and yes only a quilter will see things that are not right but every single one of us has been there done that too and even still does it on occasion. You might consider a quarter inch foot for your machine it helps you keep those points and always make a seam the same size. I love mine

I think it looks great-- for anyone, not just for a newbie.
