This is just pieces laid out before putting anything together. My daughter picked the theme and the fabric. I kind of liked the basic design once I got used to it, but the only thing we agreed about on the fabric was that the pink elephant one I used for a flower didn't fit in but was too cute to pass up. Now I'm at the end game I can't decide if I like it or hate it. Should I do the tree trunk in gray? Make smaller flowers, what?

Wow that is so totally original and unique and I love it. The skulls remind me of Mexican day of the dead celebration art work.

I like the tree trunk brown. I think gray may wash out the other colors too much and the dark brown trunk just seems to go with the vibrant colors better IMHO.

Yes, she did want something that looked like sugar skulls. The finished ones should have fancy trim and flowers in the eyes.

Not my thing at all! Glad you got used to it -- skulls seem to be popular with teens lately.

Love it...flowers in the eyes and a bit of textured quilting on the trunk and it will look stunning.

Love it when quilters work "outside the box." I think maybe one or two less flowers so the skulls stand out more. Can't wait to see it finished especially the embellishments to make sugar skulls. You go girl!
