Basically, you sew strips together, and then into a tube before using a triangle ruler to cut so that when it is cut, you have squares...not a good explanation, but if you go to Missouri Quilt Company's website, they have a video on how it's done. :)

Very beautiful and I tried machine stitching the binding on once, I hated it and had to rip out about 2-3 feet. I will go back to hand sewing it on, looks much nicer.
