I didn't use a pattern. I started with 13 green squares at the base,(2 rows of them) and then went up
    1 sky 11 greens and a sky (2 rows of them)then up
2 sky 9 greens 2 sky.( two rows of them)then up
3 sky 7 greens 3 sky (two rows of them) then up
4 sky 5 greens 4 sky ( two rows of them) then up
5 sky 3 greens 5 sky ( two rows of them) then up
6 sky 1 green 6 sky ( one row) then up
6 sky now I used green but you could use gold then 6 sky
for the base I used 6 sky 1 brown 6 sky ( two rows) to make the trunk of tree...
I put a darker blue in the sky here and there to make stars in the sky.
now depending on the twister ruler you have you would cut your squares itty bitty would be 2.5" and you need to add a border before cutting out with the twister ruler. I used a piping around it and then a 2.5" boarder.
