By "painting" do you mean all the colors are painted on? And that you began by just quilting shapes, which you then defined with paint? I especially love the little tendrils which resemble ears of corn. It's exquisite.
yes, I doodle-quilted my way around the quilt sandwich and then used inktense pencils and blocks to paint it. The back is what it looked like before painting (only in reverse). After I paintedone layer, I went back and shaded some places and added another layer in a couple areas to intensify the color. After all the coloring was done I quilted the leaves , feather and echos around the feather using glitter thread, but it doesn’t show up in the photo.

Thanks for explaining how you did this! I showed the photo to my son yesterday, who has just become interested in leather work and is creating his own designs and then making them: little wallets, pouches, coin purses, other "container" items, without patterns other than those in his head. Not at all the same as what you're doing, but I wanted to show him your incredible "quilt doodle" design and art. He was wowed.
