Ugliest I've made yet

I think that you should take the stars that you have already made and make a little boys twin or full size quilt or a couple of baby blankets out of them. I think that the animal print is more of a little kid thing than the flames and motorcycle stuff. But that is just me. I do love where you are going with this. I would have used maybe a nice harley or other print. maybe even a nice and bold batik would have worked better than the animal print. but that is just me. the star fabric works with the animal print also.

I like the stars! They just need some sashing or plain color between them. Please don't give up on them. I think you are right about waiting a little while before going back to them. It will come to you. Patience. :)

I like what you are doing.
But what you have here is a lesson in the value of Value. The stars that stand out the most are the lighter ones against the animal green print....because they are different values - light against mediums.
The blue stars are "lost" against that same background because their colors, though different, are the same value - both are medium values.
It's very common for us to work and feel most comfortable in the medium range of colors; many of us feel that dark colors are depressing, or 'mannish,' or "country". Yet a medium color placed next to a dark color (a truly dark color!) will pop and seem even better, more true.
I always try to ask myself when pulling colors for my quilts, "can it be darker?" or, conversely, "can it be lighter?" Try "auditioning" some really dark and some really light fabrics with what you've got there. If you can photo the result, then print out the picture in "greyscale" (with black and white only) you'll get an idea of the value of your choices.
Keep on it! You'll be happy in the end, with the lesson if not the quilt, so the end justifies the means, in this case.
