ckcowl - If you don't like removing the paper, I highly suggest you try PP with freezer paper. No pins needed, just fold the freezer paper pattern on each of the lines, iron to your pressing surface a couple times, so it doesn't stick to your fabric so hard and go ahead. You fold the pattern back on a line and sew right next to the fold. Otherwise the piecing process is the same as PP with tear-off paper. You can use the same freezer paper pattern many times. I've used one up to 8 times with lots of sections in the block. I really love your star. It's magnificent and I've also made a Karen Stone PP pattern before. Looking forward to the rest of your pictures of the progress to finish up this star.
I will admit the freezer paper method is not my favorite. The paper is thick & stiff and sometimes comes loose ....
Normally if I am creating my PaperPiece pattern, or making copies of one to use I do it on lightweight muslin so I do not have to remove paper. I much prefer ( foundation instead of paper)
