Thanks! Yes, it is from my "Paper Cut Valentines" book, but I made it out of wool this time.... It was kind of a take off Hawaiian applique. Then I just kept adding to it.

It's not real big. The entire thing is about 12". The center part is about 8". I made it from recycled thrift store clothes and that is about as big as the center back piece of a red wool blazer would let me go. :-)

Wow, both of them are very, very nice. What a difference it makes between applique' and hand quilting outline. You did a great job.

Carroll, I it came from my Paper Cut Valentines book (an old book) I added instructions for the wool penny rug and inserted it into the book. The book has four different designs like this one and five larger ones:

Hi, I just love your work. I am working on my first wool penny
matt and would like to know what you used to keep the pieces in place. Did you baste them or did you use heat and bond? I tried heat and bond and that just matted the wool. Any suggestions? I finally basted the pieces on after the heat and bond didn't work. It is hard getting the need through it. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Is this pattern your own or did it come from a book? It is awesome!!! I would love to have a copy of it. Thank you. :)

Darcy, I just ordered your book and am really looking forward to receiving it. I assume that the penny rug instructions are in the book. I can't wait to get it and start looking for old wool jackets, skirts, and coats. Do you have to felt the wool or can I use them as is? Thank you so much for all of your help. :) :-) :D
