You can do this on your regular home sewing machine! As long as you have the ability to drop the feed you an free motion this! I used to do a lot of this style of sewing on my regular machine. It's just faster on the long arm...but a sit down machine is better for detail.

You really got my imagination going with your earlier pictures of them in progress, as a matter of fact, I just got back from the LQS (small business Saturday!) where I purchased several yards of Southern Belle muslin. Hope you think that imitation is the highest form of flattery, because I'm starting mine next week!
