What beautiful stockings--I'm sure they will be treasured for a long, long time!

I had to go back and find your earlier posts about making them them, and was not at all surprised to see you mention Cindy Needham's quilting; your stockings look so much like what I learned in her Craftsy class.

Again, BEAUTIFUL work!!!

Yes I love Cindy! I have been following her blog for years - I haven't taken her class but I hear many raves about it!! She was the one who gave me the idea for beads too...I think they just suit this so well. Thank you!

These are so beautiful. They are the most beautiful Christmas stockings I've ever seen anywhere, at any time. I went back and read your previous posts and looked at the pictures.. I am so impressed. How long does it take to stitch something like this? I know it must take hours, but can you give an idea just how many hours it took to stitch just one side of a stocking. I machine quilt on my domestic machine, but nothing at all like this.

Hi Judie! Sure I can tell you!! I'm always happy to share!! It took me approximately 8 hours of quilting for each stocking. So somewhere around 24-30 hours of quilting. The front of each stocking took longer because each has it's own individual design. The backs are free hand feathers so they went a bit quicker.

Also I should add that I did this on an APQS long arm...but...you do NOT have to have a long arm to make something like this. It helps to have a fast stitching domestic machine to help things go faster...but I have a very slow low end Brother SQ9050 that I did a ton of heirloom work on before I got the long arm. Just takes a bit longer and a little more patience!

There is another handful of evenings of hand beading...and then it took me two or three days (off and on, not working all day) to hand stitch the lace binding and add the ruffles. I machine basted the ruffles from three leftover jellyroll strips...then I hand ruffled them. I also hand stitched them down with silk thread to hide the stitches...both to the inside and back.

Thank you so much for your super super super kind comments!!!
