How lucky your customer is to have you finish this spectacular quilt. The history behind this quilt is so wonderful to have. You've done a super job with the completion.

I am searching for a pattern to do a signature quilt for my grandson who graduates HS 6/4. Any advice? He lives in MI and it may be difficult to get all signatures, which could also hold up making the quilt. What do you think if we got the signatures at Grad time and at his party after the quilt was completed? I think that it should be wall or lap size as he could store it easily if he gets tired of it. At this pont he wants to do 6 yr college.

The signatures were actually embroidered directly onto the blocks, not appliqued on.

I think having squares of fabric available for signing would be good, then they could re-do them if they mess one up. Also, you could then better judge the placement of them in the finished quilt so that they aren't all prone to just one area of a quilt like they might be if people we're signing a finished top.

"Mother Brown"! I love it! What a nice gift for the bride. Too bad that more of these couldn't be saved. I think it gives kids a sense of history that they love being part of. I'm constantly amazed at my sons. Anything that was "Grandma's" is saved and loved. She was a treasure.

Thanks for the advice,Eddie. Guess I'd better get a move on so Gage can get his friends signatures. I will show the completed quilt here, before I take it to MI.
