I haven't included any lessons on this one. They knew that I was going to make it and that their pictures would be one it. -that's really all here.

I would like to do another quilt with them, perhaps a Downey quilt http://www.quiltsforkids.org or even one that will be a part of our silent auction to benifit our school. In this lesson I would like to include some multiplication facts, area and perimeter of pieces on the cutting board, and "if I start at 4 and my piece is 2 and 1/2 inches wide, where will I cut?" kind of thing. Then "how many squares do I need to make it 'so' wide?"... "how big will it be when it's finished?" (area and perimeter again)... those kinds of questions.

You are so clever and creative. I'm sure your friend will love it. It's a forever one-of-a-kind quilt and who wouldn't like that. I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to want to create their own like yours.

A gift that she will tresure forever.
Projects like this can do so much for building confidence and self esteem with young people. You are so thoughtful for including the students in this project.

Wonderful quilt & how personal. I am so impressed with the idea!
Have you thought about putting the original pictures in an album to give her along with the quilt?

I have saved the originals, but hadn't thought about how to give them to her except in a big envelope.... maybe

It's just darling. I would guess that the kids would love to express their creativity in a Downey quilt. And sneakin' in a little math would be, well ... sneaky!

I used my camera a lot in my first grade classroom over the years. You could add each child's picture along with their original picture. That is an awesome quilt.
